The Seattle Mariners have clinched their first postseason berth since 2001, taking down the Oakland Athletics 2-1 at T-Mobile Park, ending the longest postseason drought in professional sports. On Thursday, the Mariners closed in on their first playoff berth by beating the Texas Rangers 10-9. It helped move them a half-game ahead of Tampa Bay for the second of three American League wild cards, reducing their magic number to one for clinching a postseason spot. The M's have a 42-33 record at home and an 86-70 record overall.
