Island Pacific Supermarket in Seattle, Washington

Island Pacific has the best Filipino take-out food that we know of in Seattle. For $35 we can get enough to cover lunches and dinners for the two of us for several work days of the week. Mungo, sinigang, caldereta, pork adobo, dinuguan, tinola -- almost as good as my wife cooks! We have done this several times in order to spare my wife the chore of cooking on the weekend for our work week. The food is great! When we had a party we bought a couple of platters of their barbecued skewers. These were gobbled up before anything else! I lessened by one star because when we went to the butcher department, we waited and waited for someone to come out and help us -- a worker walked by behind the counter and ignored us. To be fair, I must say that I spotted a bell as we were walking away and we had not rung the bell for service. Of course you can find the uniquely Filipino or Asian grocery foods such as plantains, purple yams, tuyo, the spicy sardines in oil, and the big tins of cookies for $6.00 -- perfect to take to the office to share. We live on north Queen Anne Hill and find that Island Pacific is worth the drive all the way down MLK Way South. Revision: when we ate the pompano in sinigang sauce it was so salty! -- too much patis!
